Dr. Theodora Mbunda, MD, PhD is a global health specialist, research scientist and senior manager in Grants and Business Development Department at the Management and Development for Health, MDH. She is responsible for overall oversight, coordination of donor engagement fundraising, proposal development, and spearheading capacity building for development and management of strategic consortium partnerships at MDH. She is a successful healthcare manager with more than 8 years in designing and implementing national HIV/AIDS program, data management systems and guidelines.

She is the Medical Doctor and PhD holder in Public Health Sciences from Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm Sweden. Dr. Theodora has over 8 years’ experience in conducting clinical trials in areas of HIV and TB vaccine trials as coordinator, principal investigator and trial manager. Her research experience is coupled by wide range training in ICH GCP guidelines, data quality assessment, project evaluation and public health sciences. Her interests lie in conducting, evaluating researches in communicable and non-communicable diseases/conditions such as HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, Maternal and Reproductive Health, COVID 19, Diabetes Mellitus and Hypertension. Her research work has been focused on participation of youth in HIV clinical trials, assessment of new diagnostic TB tests among asymptomatic adults in communities and feasibility of using point-of care testing among HIV exposed infants. She has published 6 medical articles regarding HIV vaccine trial participation among young people.
